Series 2/3

Shellphones

  • Commissioned for public oceanfront resorts, landmark venues and private coastal collectors as an ode to the beach, and a whimsical reminder to heed its calling.

Each set was custom-crafted using high-quality materials and advanced fabrication techniques that ensure durability for high-traffic environments, while achieving lifelike textures on a larger-than-life scale. Inviting interaction—many viewers intuitively step inside to listen for ocean sounds, instinctively reenacting the universal childhood ritual of holding a shell to the ear.

The Shellphones sculpture series was inspired by those memories of listening to the ocean through a seashell—an everyday moment that evokes the wonder and presence of early encounters with nature. The series explores how reconnecting with that sense of curiosity can deepen the way we experience the world around us. It asks us to imagine a world where our technoxlogy doesn’t drown out the land, but amplifies it.

  • Materials: Fiberglass, resin, steel, aluminum, vinyl high density foam, wood and acrylic enamel.
